Mallee or small tree with slender trunks, often growing with multiple stems of five or more. Useful in gardens where an open canopy is required to allow other trees, shrubs and perennials to be grown underneath.
The base of the tree features scaly box like bark, extending further up into a smooth ribbony like bark with the trunk is finally a smooth pinkish grey colour. Leaves are described as shiny, narrow and a neutral grey-green at all stages.
Important structural component within landscape situation where conditions are likely to be relatively dry. Will suit dry semi arid conditions with well-drained soils. Its frost hardy tolerances can be very useful in hills climate or inland planting situations subject to low minimum temperatures
Examples can be seen on the Western slopes and plains regions in NSW, Flinders Ranges (South Australia), Victorian Mallee regions and Southern Queensland.
