Pyrus nivalis hassimilar characteristics and cultural requirements to the Callery Pears but differs in several important respects. Most significant of these is the foliage which is slightly glaucous, giving the tree a soft, silvery green appearance when in leaf. The habit of the tree is easy to manage to form a trunk. Flowers are small and white and these may be followed by small fruits. Fruit formation may limit the streetscape use of this beautiful species.
